ALHAJI MAHEY RAFINDADI RASHEED(OFR)

Alhaji Mahey Rafindadi Rasheed (OFR) was born in Katsina in 1951. He attended Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, School of Basic Studies between 1973 and 1974, and between 1974 – 1977 he obtained a B.Sc. degree in Economics from the same University.
He started his career in the New Nigeria Development Company (NNDC) Kaduna as an Investment Executive (1978 – 1980) and rose to the level of Principal Investment Executive between 1983 to 1985.
He served as Alternate Director in the Board of following companies:
• Nidogas Ltd, Lagos, Nigeria.
• Ceramic Manufacturers Ltd, Kano, Nigeria.
• Cotton Agricultural Processors Ltd, Zaria, Nigeria.
• Dorman Long Amalgamated Engineering Co. Ltd. Lagos, Nigeria. (Steel Fabrication)
• Cement Company of Northern Nigeria Ltd, Sokoto
• and Kano citizens Trading Co., Kano (a Textile Company)
He was appointed Assistant Director, Foreign Operations Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) between 1985 – 1987 where he was in charge of International Remittances and Exchange Rate Offices including the Foreign Exchange Market. Thereafter he was appointed Deputy Director of the bank with effect from 1st Jan 1988 a position he held till 31st July 1997.
On account of his hard work and diligence, Alhaji Mahey Rasheed was elevated to position of Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria in 1999.
Rafindadi Rasheed also held the underlisted positions, namely:
Chairman, Nigeria Security Printing and Minting Plc 2003
Member, Board of Directors, British – American Insurance Company Ltd, 1984 -1986
Member, FGN Budget Review Committee (1991 – 94)
Nigerian Government Representative in Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) project.
Nigerian Government Representative in the Gas to Liquid (NGL) project.
In his passionate search for knowledge, Alhaji Mehay Rasheed attended the prestigious Harvard University, USA between 2005 – 2006, where he obtained a Master’s Degree (MPA) in Public Policy. He also holds the Edward Mason Fellow of the University in the same year.
He was conferred with the National Honours Award of the Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) in December 2004.
His hobbies include playing Table Tennis, Reading and Gardening. He is married with two children.
